Robot Journalism: Algorithmic Approach to Automatic News Article Generation

Proposed ‘robot journalism framework’, a 5-step process for automatically generating news articles from raw data. It is a study on how an algorithm can collect, analyse, and make decisions on what becomes a news. The framework is applied in ‘sports news’ domain where it creates news articles that highlights all baseball events in year 2015.
The Change in Game Space: Visualization on Appropriation and Tour in Space

Based on de Certeau’s concepts of “appropriation of place into space” and “active tour”, this study attempted to visualize the movement of World of Warcraft avatars and analyze the change of game space with the actual avatar movement history. Cartogram and line graph visualizations proved what has been the traditional social science research can also be applied to the game world with actual behavioral data of players.

Evaluating Pre-defined Kinetic Typography Effects to Convey Emotions

Kinetic typography is one of many ways to express emotions in computer-mediated communication by empowering static texts with dynamic attributes. In this work, we investigated and proved the applicability of kinetic effects in text and revealed key attributes that can be composed in generating emotion in text-based communication.
Crowdsourcing As a Method for Indexing Digital Media

We have explored the possibility of converting the collective resources from the crowd in making useful information back to people. We collected posts from the online forums about soap operas on the air, and extracted instances when the name of characters in the play has been mentioned. These crowdsourced indexes become good search keywords to find the scenes where the characters mentioned in the posts appear.
